# Hi, I'm Mitch.

I'm a salesman from Cushing, Oklahoma. I've sold medicine, mattresses and fine jewelry, led sales teams, and built a few businesses along the way.

## The short version

Mitch Walker is a salesman and content creator based in Dallas, Texas, with nearly 20 years in sales. He uses Claude and other AI tools to build working sales and marketing systems. Earlier he spent almost ten years in pharmaceutical sales, where he was a district manager on an AstraZeneca contract with Publicis Touchpoint Solutions and a GSK contract with inVentiv Health. Today he's a territory manager for jewelry manufacturer Ostbye, an independent manufacturer sales rep for Golden Mattress Company (he built both of its websites), and the founder of My Jewelry Marketing. He and his wife Brittany own and host three rental homes in Colorado and Texas. He's an Oklahoma Army National Guard veteran.

## My story

### Cushing, the Guard and OU

I grew up in Cushing, Oklahoma. The summer between my junior and senior years of high school, 2000, I went through Army basic training at Fort Benning. The next summer, between graduating from Cushing High School and starting at the University of Oklahoma, I finished Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson and earned a heavy wheeled mechanics certification. By the time I walked into my first college class, my military training was done.

I served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard with the 245th Engineer Company, part of the 45th Separate Infantry Brigade, as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. I drilled out of Bristow, with training at Camp Gruber, and made Specialist (E-4).

I paid my way through OU working as a server, bartender and sales trainer at restaurants in Norman. I joined Pi Kappa Alpha's Beta Omicron chapter and served as treasurer and recruitment chair, which was my first experience leading a team. In 2003, halfway through college, my unit was mobilized for Operation Noble Eagle, and I spent May to December on the security mission at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas. I was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, and I was honorably discharged. Then I went back to Norman and finished my degree, a BA in Letters with a minor in Latin, in May 2006. After graduating I served as the Pike chapter's advisor for about three years.

In August 2006 I started selling freight and logistics services for Unishippers, and in July 2007 I moved into pharmaceutical sales.

### Pharmaceutical sales

In July 2007 I started as a pharmaceutical sales consultant for Hawthorn Pharmaceuticals in Oklahoma City. I launched and promoted 19 products in the cough and cold and pain markets, and my territory posted the highest annual sales in its history.

In 2010 I moved to Dallas as a senior sales rep and field sales trainer. I took a territory from the bottom tier into the top 5 in five months, and I started helping train new reps.

A year later Hawthorn made me a district sales manager in South Texas. I had 13 reps spread from El Paso to Brownsville. In 2012 my district had the highest total sales of the ten in our region, and it ranked 2nd of 11 on the company's overall composite ranking, which weighed sales dollars and growth.

After Hawthorn became part of Pernix Therapeutics, I worked as a field sales trainer in Oklahoma City. Then I moved into diabetes. At Publicis Touchpoint Solutions, on an AstraZeneca contract, I started as a diabetes sales specialist and took my territory from 41st of 85 to 3rd. I was promoted to district business manager over a six-state area, and in the first quarter of 2015 I ranked 1st of 25 managers in the country.

My last pharma role was with inVentiv Health on a GSK contract. I started as a respiratory rep and was promoted to district sales manager for a type 2 diabetes injectable, leading a team of 9. In the first six weeks of that launch, our district ranked 5th in the nation for growth in new-to-brand prescription share. The contract ended in January 2017.

Those years taught me that presenting a product is the small part of selling. The real work is understanding how your customer's business runs, and as a manager, it's helping each rep get better at that.

### Mattresses, and building websites

In 2017 I started selling for Golden Mattress Company, a mattress manufacturer in Dallas ([goldenmattressdallas.com](https://www.goldenmattressdallas.com)). I'm still with them as an independent contractor. I grew their wholesale distribution to more than 70 retail stores around Dallas, and I train store staff on how different foams and springs feel, so they can sell them with confidence.

I also built both of their websites. The dealer portal, [ordergmc.com](https://ordergmc.com), is where my retailers log in to order mattresses and find the catalog, price list, selling tips and marketing ideas. The retail store, [goldenmattressretail.com](https://goldenmattressretail.com), is where shoppers buy a mattress online. Building those sites got me into making websites. I also built [WalkerStays.com](https://walkerstays.com), so guests can book our homes with us directly.

Since 2021 I've also been a bid consultant for [NewGold, LLC](https://newgoldltd.com/), a federal contracting company, helping them prepare and win government contract bids.

### Jewelry

I joined Ostbye, a jewelry manufacturer, as a territory manager in July 2024. Since I took over the territory, sales have grown from about $650,000 to more than $1 million. I call on independent fine jewelry and bridal stores across Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana, and I've walked the floor at JCK, RJO and IJO.

The owners I call on have great inventory and know their customers by name, but almost none of them have time to show it online. I kept hearing the same thing: "I know I need to be on social media. I just don't have the time." I'd been teaching myself video and AI tools, so in August 2026 I started My Jewelry Marketing to do it for them. In my first month with Ell's Jewelry in Shawnee, the store's Facebook page went from 7,779 views to 48,543.

### AI and workflow automation

I build most of my websites and systems with AI. I use Claude, Claude Code and other AI tools to make things that work, beyond writing text. I've built and run themitchwalker.com, [WalkerStays.com](https://walkerstays.com) (the direct-booking site for our homes), [myjewelrymarketing.com](https://myjewelrymarketing.com), and both Golden Mattress sites, [ordergmc.com](https://ordergmc.com) and [goldenmattressretail.com](https://goldenmattressretail.com). For My Jewelry Marketing I built an AI-assisted content system that turns one shoot day into a month of Reels, carousels and posts, an automated monthly reporting system for each client, and a prospect research and outreach pipeline.

The tools I use regularly:

- **AI assistants and agents:** Claude (Anthropic), Claude Code, Claude in Chrome (browser agent), MCP connectors (Model Context Protocol), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Google Gemini
- **AI video, image and voice:** Higgsfield, Runway, OpenArt, OpusClip, Adobe Firefly and Adobe Express, Canva AI, VoiceStudio (voice cloning)
- **Video and design:** DaVinci Resolve Studio, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop (generative fill), HyperFrames (HTML-to-video)
- **Automation, data and web:** Google Workspace and Apps Script, Supabase, Cloudflare (Pages, DNS, Workers), Vercel, Astro, Shopify, Resend
- **Marketing and social:** Meta Business Suite, Metricool, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools

Companies right now are looking for people who can bring AI into their real sales and operations workflows. That's what I'd bring to a sales team or a company: help using AI to cut admin time, build their own tools and sites, make content in-house and turn their data into reports, from someone who has spent nearly 20 years in sales.

### Hosting

Brittany and I have hosted on Airbnb for 5 years. We have three homes: The Elati House in Englewood, Colorado, and The McCosh House and The McCosh Apartment in Dallas. I build with my hands too: I remodeled the Elati House and the McCosh Apartment myself before we started hosting them. We've kept Superhost status and a 4.99 rating across 89 reviews. Guests can book direct at [WalkerStays.com](https://walkerstays.com) and save at least 15% compared with Airbnb.

## Outside of work

- Brittany and I married in 2021. She's a sonographer, originally from Sahuarita, Arizona. We jokingly call ourselves the Bitchells (Brittany + Mitchell).
- We love to travel and try new restaurants, bars and scenery. We split our time between Dallas, Denver and New Zealand, and we'd like to add homes in New Zealand someday.
- We love the mountains, which is a big reason we bought a home in Denver, and I snowboard.

## Community

I've been a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, matched with the same Little Brother for six years as of my letter from the agency, usually spending a few hours together each week. I also organized fundraising nights at local restaurants to raise money and awareness for the program. In 2012 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma named me their Big Brother of the Year.
